Sabine Bernabe, Acting Head of the World Bank Dispute Resolution Service

Sabine Bernabè is the Acting Head of the Dispute Resolution Service (DRS), having been appointed to this interim role in July 2026 by the World Bank Board of Executive Directors to ensure continuity of leadership and strategic direction for the DRS. Sabine is Vice President and Director-General of the Independent Evaluation Group (IEG), World Bank Group, a position she has held since 2023.

Sabine has 30 years of international development experience in evaluation, policy, and research across several international organizations and academia. Previously, Sabine worked as an economist for the World Bank, the EIB, the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) and the University of K.U. Leuven. She has worked, taught, and published on a range of topics including poverty, inequality, labor markets, growth and financial sector development.

Sabine earned a Ph. D from the London School of Economics and a master’s degree from SDA Bocconi.
