The Parties involved in a dispute related to the Cameroon Nachtigal Hydropower Project and the Hydropower Development on the Sanaga River Technical Assistance Project have opted for a collaborative dispute resolution process to try to resolve their differences.
In mid-October, the World Bank Board approved an Inspection Panel recommendation to investigate the complaint related to the aforementioned projects. Under the World Bank Accountability Mechanism procedures, the Parties in this case then had 30 days to decide whether to opt for dispute resolution. A team from the Accountability Mechanism, led by AM Secretary Orsolya Szekely, visited Cameroon early in November to meet with the Parties.
Under the Accountability Mechanism operating procedures, the Parties have one year to resolve the dispute. This will be the third dispute resolution case opened by the Accountability Mechanism since it went into operation last year.
